Our work exchange program is now OPEN for the 2021 season!
WORK EXCHANGE PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The work exchange program is designed to give access to our regular Heartbeet volunteers to a CSA basket every week (that can be picked up at our established drop off days and points) throughout the growing season. The program works like this: You sign up for 1 shift of volunteer work (4h) every week (from Tuesday to Saturday) and commit to either the early season (June to the end of August), the late season (September to the end of October), or both sessions. There will be an online platform to mange you shifts, and an orientation on Saturday May 18th If you can't come one week you are expected to make up for your hours the next week.
*STUDENTS* The Heartbeet will gladly provide a report of your work exchange participation for use in a CV or school application.
If this sounds like too much of a commitment for you, we will be holding open-farm days on some Saturdays during the growing season and would like to have you come help out, learn and spend time at the farm then! Stay tuned on our newsletter. We ask that students under the age of 14 are accompanied by an adult while they are working on farm.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN
Field work: bed prep, seeding, transplanting, weeding, thinning, harvesting.
Washstation: washing, sorting, cleaning, packing, labelling all crops, inventories, organising.

OPTIONAL WORK EXCHANGE OPPORTUNITIES
Participate in outreach activities including farm event, educational activities on farm, workshops, etc. (we can let you know when they are coming up if you'd like to complete your hours then-- Keep in mind that there will probably be a volunteer cap)
